Intern Engineer - Power Delivery

RLC Engineering is seeking a Intern Engineer to join their team of professionals. RLC’s Power Delivery unit focuses on the development of documents that will be used for modernizations or new construction of Substations and Lines for transmission and distribution utility and renewable applications. Our capabilities include:

  • Multi-discipline Substation physical design (Civil/Structural and Electrical)
  • Protection and Controls design (P&C)
  • Transmission/Distribution Lines (T&D)
  • Automation & Integration (A&I and SCADA)
  • Network Communications
  • Studies (Arc Flash, Fault Current, Grounding, Direct Stroke, etc.)
  • Specifications for major equipment
  • Testing and Commissioning

Our primary clients consist of the Major New England Utilities

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Job scope development
  • Coordination with CADD process
  • Line layout/routing
  • Substation layout/equipment plan
  • Completion of required design calculations
  • Production of preliminary and final design drawings and documentation
  • Participate in the review of client Requests for Proposal and contribute to the completion of competitive project proposals and bid responses
  • Utilize proprietary and “off the shelf” system modeling software
  • Support estimate development

Requirements:

  • Current Study in an accredited Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology Program
  • GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • Desire to become involved in the design of electrical transmission and/or distribution desired
  • Desire to become involved in the design of substation facilities desired
  • Must possess desire and aptitude to work with computers and complex software. Examples of software that might be utilized (Excel, Word, Powerpoint, WINgis, PLSCAD, Autocad, RISA3D, ETAP, ASPEN, and AcSelerator Quickset)
