General Description of Position:

Applies technical knowledge to assist internal and remote users with computer problems. The Helpdesk Support Specialist will be responsible for providing technical support to end-users, resolving their IT-related issues, and ensuring that our systems and software run smoothly. The ideal candidate should have excellent customer service skills with the ability to solve problems efficiently, communicate effectively, and work collaboratively with other members of the team, all while making the customer feel supported.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Serve as the first point of contact for users seeking technical assistance over the phone, zoom or email
  • Guide customers remotely and in person through systems configuration, maintenance and troubleshooting computer hardware and software issues
  • Conduct research to understand, explain, and resolve technology issues 
  • Determine the best solution based on the issue and details provided by users
  • Listen attentively to users’ questions and concerns and offer optimal solutions
  • Communicates updates to users who have been or may be affected by a problem
  • Follow up with users to update status and information
  • Utilizes help desk tracking software to present recommendations and improvements for user systems
  • Record events and problems and their resolutions
  • Break down technological processes and communicate concise, step-by-step instructions for effective understanding and implementation
  • Initiates onboarding procedures for new users into the system. 
  • Directs unresolved issues to next-level personnel by coordinating referrals to technical, professional, or service personnel depending on the repair, training, service, or software issue.

Qualifications:

  • Typically requires a bachelor’s degree and 2 to 4 years of experience doing similar customer focused work.

  • Must have proficient PC skills and experience with Microsoft 365, MS Teams, Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook.
  • Proficient skills with troubleshooting both hardware and software issues.
  • Proficient in diagnosing and resolving networking issues
  • Possess a strong understanding of TCP/IP protocols, DHCP and DNS
  • Eagerness to learn new technologies and systems

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

RLC Engineering is a growing consulting firm with offices in Hallowell, Bangor, and South Portland, ME providing a comprehensive array of power system studies and engineering services to various electric energy‐related clientele. Our Finance Department is looking for a Finance Operations Specialist to help carry out essential billing, accounting and reporting functions. The position can be based out of our Hallowell or South Portland, ME office.

General Description of Position:

This position is critical to key business functions at RLC Engineering, including monthly invoicing, accounts payable and receivable management, project financial review and reporting.  This individual must be familiar or competent with administering solid business and financial practices to support the aforementioned activities.

The Finance Operations Specialist will report directly to the Finance Manager.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Monthly Invoicing:
    • Prepare and submit draft invoices to Project Managers for review via Ajera (our ERP “Enterprise Resource Planning” system)
    • Compile and transmit final invoices to clients and work with Project Management team and client to secure receipt of payment in accordance with billing terms
    • Monitor accounts receivable aging to ensure delinquent accounts receivable are addressed and apply payment receipts in Ajera
    • Assist in identifying current and/or potential billing issues and work with Project Management team and/or client to resolve
    • Establish and maintain client setup information within Ajera system
  • Accounts Payable:
    • Monitor and file incoming accounts payable invoices and work with vendors to clarify payment terms and resolve discrepancies
    • Enter invoices into Ajera system using appropriate general ledger account and department codes and process payments (checks, EFT, etc.) according to terms in a timely and accurate manner with proper approvals
    • Reconcile credit card purchases and ensure proper application within Ajera
    • Establish and maintain vendor setup information within Ajera system
    • Awareness and escalation of potential cost savings opportunities
  • Financial Reporting and Other:
    • Maintain, distribute and analyze various project financial reporting metrics, including accrued project revenue and expenses, work-in-progress (“WIP”), write-offs and fixed fee adjustments, accounts receivable and cash receipt activity
    • Establish and maintain various inputs in Ajera system such as billing rate and other project related data
    • Other projects and support as assigned

General Description of Position:

Under general supervision of the Manager or other designated professional engineer, this position performs a substantial role in design, preparation of specifications and field engineering related to assigned engineering projects. The incumbent must be competent to carry out, review and analyze complex technical studies and project scopes, along with the ability to develop and review technical specifications, drawings and standards of equipment/projects. The incumbent must be able to work closely with clients and other senior and junior engineers in the office and throughout the organization in the successful delivery of Protection and Controls design engineering work and in the development of additional business with existing and/or new clients.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Perform design studies and demonstrate a good working knowledge of substations, protection and control, and automation and integration projects.
  • Ability to comprehend and apply industry standards used to design substations, protection and control, and automation and integration projects. In additions, work may require development and review of technical specifications, drawings and standards of equipment and projects.
  • Ability to prepare written reports which explain the purpose, methodology, data requirements, design criteria and recommendations and observations.
  • Some participation in client business development.
  • Keep department manager informed of status of all projects relative to pre-established expectations
  • Maintains a program of personal study to expand and improve technical and analytical skills.

General Description of Position:

This position performs a substantial role in designing and developing layouts for electrical circuits or systems for power distribution. The incumbent must be capable of developing effective and safe electrical diagrams by performing design computations using their engineering skills. The incumbent must also possess an understanding of engineering techniques and industrial tools and translate design requirements into specific configurations.

This position may also direct the work of drafters or develop assignments with clear and specific objectives. This individual requires low levels of assistance, self-guided in solving problems and capable of handling unusual problems. This individual also demonstrates ability to review work with professional judgment and appropriate quality controls.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Work closely with other design engineers to develop electrical drawings using AutoCAD or Microstation.
  • Develop accurate and precise product designs complying with recognized drafting standards, company practices, policies and procedures
  • Develop, prepare, check and coordinate designs, drawings plus other documents needed for electrical systems
  • Ability to maintain quality control over all work produced by drafters for client review and issue for construction.
  • Work with electrical engineers to develop electrical designs meeting client needs
  • Generate quality assurance of electrical, control detail engineering and design project deliverables
  • Maintains a program of personal study to expand and improve technical and analytical skills.
  • Keep department manager informed of status of all projects relative to pre-established expectations

Position Requirements:

  • A minimum of an Associate Degree in Engineering Technology (or equivalent) is required.
  • Three plus (5+) years of related utility protection and control design experience preferred. Similar electrical consulting, or industrial design experience, will be strongly considered.
  • Strong computer skills including the use of AutoCAD and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and Outlook). MicroStation and Visio are also preferred.
  • Must have excellent written and oral communication skills to effectively communicate both internally and externally to the organization.
