The Huckins Hill Project was the addition of a +50/-25 MVar synchronous condenser connected to bus 1 and 2, at Huckins Hill 115 kV Substation located in Holderness, NH. The synchronous condenser was located in the expansion to the west side of the existing station. A new 115 kV breaker was installed in the current unused bay on the north side of the station. A new 115 kV circuit switcher was added for switching of the synchronous condenser in and out of service. New relay and communications panels were installed in the existing control house. The new construction was designed to meet Bulk Power Separation (BPS) standards.

SCOPE OF SERVICES

  • Expansion of the existing substation yard to accommodate the addition of the synchronous condenser.
  • Installation of a new 115kV circuit breaker and circuit switcher using a Plug-n-Play control cabling.
  •  Integration of new protection and control panels designed to BPS standards.
  • Designed a new ICON, communication panel and equipment in the new synchronous condenser building.
